Hi Everyone, So, lets talk skin types. Knowing your skin type is so important and will allow you to ensure you are using the correct products for your skin type, will ensure a smooth application of makeup, a flawless finish and really help out your MUA when he/she is doing your makeup! There are basically 4 main skin types: Combination Skin: Oil in the T-zone with areas of dryness Oily Skin: All over tacky or slick feeling and noticeable shine Dry Skin: Dehydrated or rough patches, flakiness, and tightness Normal Skin: Smooth feeling with no dry spots or excess shine On a few occasions, I have had clients describe what they think their skin type is and once the makeup is done you can clearly see the incorrect product type has been used, for instance if you say you oily skin, I will be applying a matte primer and a matte foundation, if actually what you have is combination skin (a bit of oil and a bit of dry), then you wont be getting that Photoshop finish, something we all desire and there may not be enough time to start over. Most of my clients I meet on the day of their bookings so we don't always get to have this discussion, unless they have a trial, which most people who are attending a party/function may not want to do and would prefer to just have their hair or makeup done on the day. Bridal consultations work differently as they always want a trial so we get to have this discussion before the big day and I can help the client to prepare their skin so it is perfect for their big day. Luckyily enough for the clients that do not book trials I carry A LOT of products including different types of primers and foundations to suit all skin types. The good news is there are so many products on the market for each of these skin types, its really a preference as to what brands you want to use, the market is saturated with plenty of brands that suit all skin types and budgets. Hope this helps! All my love Anita xo Anita Makeup Artist & Hairstylist
